The attack was carried out with a quds-2 missile, Saree said on a tweet Sunday night.
He also released a satellite symbol labeled “North Jeddah Bulk Plant – Saudi Aramco”. Google Maps displays an asset that matches this symbol and description in the northern suburbs of Jeddah.
“The attack was very accurate and ambulances and chimney trucks rushed towards the target,” Saree said.
He also warned foreign and Saudi nationals to exercise caution as “operations will continue. “
Aramco’s oil production and export facilities are most commonly found in the eastern province of Arabia, more than 1,000 km across the country of Jeddah.
State oil giant Aramco did not respond to a request for comment.
The army spokesman said the attack was carried out in reaction to ongoing airstrikes through the Saudi-led coalition that opposes Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition invaded Yemen in 2015 and since then more than 100,000 people have been killed, according to the U. S. -based Armed Conflict and Event Data Location Project (ACLED).
