High-level doctors in the Philippines have pleaded with the government to impose a strict blockade in the capital, Manila, or to threaten to waste war to involve the coronavirus.
While the World Health Organization recorded the highest daily number of new cases to date of the pandemic, doctors said the Philippines’ fragile fitness formula needed “downtime” to prevent collapse.
Two of manila’s largest government hospitals closed this week due to infections that have affected health workers. Many hospitals in the capital have also reported the full capacity of their Covid-19 beds and closed their doors to new patients.
“Our fitness suffers from exhaustion with a likely infinite number of patients who come to our hospitals to get emergency care and be admitted,” said José Santiapass, president of the leading physician organization Philippine Medical Association.
“We are waging a devastating war opposed to Covid-19 and we want to expand a consolidated and final action plan.”
Teams of doctors issued the joint declaration, and the country recorded a record 4,000 cases in the last two days, bringing the total to 93,354 infections as of July 31. It has the highest number of cases in Southeast Asia, recently. the figures have raised fears that it will soon overtake Indonesia, which has more than 108,000 cases in total.
President Rodrigo Duterte was asked to re-impose a strict closure in the country’s capital and neighboring provinces from August 1 to 15 so that fitness staff would have a “downtime.” They said the government also uses time to “recalibrate methods opposed to Covid-19.”
Aileen Espina of the Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians said: “We have been fighting this fight since March. We feel like we’re approaching the end of our line. We ask for everyone’s help.”
The Philippines imposed one of the longest and strictest padlocks in the region, which has been observed in other countries, but doctors said that detection, isolation and the search for poor contacts had not involved the disease. Since the locks were loosened, outbreaks have been reported at structure sites and commercial plants.
July, the worst month of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, after deaths increased to nearly 25,000 and new cases doubled in at least 18 states. The United States registered nearly 1.8 million new Covid-19 instances in July, bringing the total to more than 4.5 million and deaths to more than 152,000.
California has surpassed New York as the state with the highest infections, accumulating 493140 cases of coronavirus since the onset of the pandemic. He reported a record number of deaths in another four days in just over a week.

The South Korean government arrested the founder of a secret Christian sect amid the largest outbreak of Covid-19 infections in the country. Lee Man-hee, 89, is alleged to have hidden data about some members of his Jesus Shincheonji church from contact trackers as they sought to identify how the virus was spreading while the country suffered its worst epidemic in February.
The church is connected to more than 5,200 coronavirus infections, or 36% of the total in South Korea.

The closure has halved rhino poaching in South Africa, the country’s environment minister said Friday. In the first six months of the year, 166 rhinos were poached in South Africa, with 316 in the first part of 2019, Barbara Creecy said, a minimum of 53%.
