The Life Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) supports more frequent longitudinal telephone surveys in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda to focus on the socio-economic effects of crises.
Initially driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, high-frequency telephone surveys have been deployed since 2020 in low- and middle-income countries with limited understanding of knowledge collection via telephone.
The LSMS, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Global Financing Facility, and in collaboration with the World Bank Poverty and Equity Global Practice (GP), is providing financial and technical assistance to longitudinal high-frequency phone surveys across Africa.
