The World Bank has 35 legal states to take advantage of the US$1. 5 billion stimulus package for Nigerian states to cushion the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The plan consists of the world bank’s rapid general fiscal relief for Nigeria, following a discussion between its national director and the Economic Sustainability Committee, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
This is contained in the report of the ad hoc committee of the National Economic Council, NEC, in interface with the presidential race in Covid-19 to facilitate the blockade of the economy.
The report presented Thursday at the NEC virtual assembly chaired by Vice President Prof Osinbajo at the Presidential Village in Abuja.
Nassarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who briefed House correspondents on the effects of the meeting, said 22 states have signed the grant agreement, GA, while thirteen have not yet delivered the signed GA.
According to him, the 22 states that signed GA Ekiti, Gombe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Taraba, Oyo, Abia, Enugu, Plateau, Delta, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kwara, Cross-River, Imo, Yobe, OndoArray Osun, Nasarawa and Benue.

He said that of the 22 states, the states that had earned a grant of N 100,000,000 each, totaling 1. 6 billion nars.
The states Ekiti, Gmbe, Niger, Sokoto, Taraba, Oyo, Abia, Enugu, Zamfara, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kwara, Cross-River, Imo and Delta.
The next five states on the grant list are Plateau, Yobe, Ondo, Benue, and Osun, while Nassarawa State has still published the account details.
Sule said the ad hoc committee report also contained highlights of the four-week rules under way on the prolonged timing of the facilitated closure.

According to him, at the virtual meeting there were briefings and presentations by the National Security Adviser, the NSA, the Inspector General of Police, the PGI, the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Department of State Services (DSS).
He said the assembly reviewed the demanding situations in the country and noted that lack of confidence simply would not be completely eliminated without addressing Nigeria’s highest poverty and unemployment rate.
“The Council provides that the President of the NGF (Forum of Governors of Nigeria) and two other governors shall meet with the Secretary of the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Finance and the Inspector General of Police to coordinate the correct use of the police of the budget network in states.
“The federal government has already approved thirteen billion nairas for the same purpose. “
He said the assembly also noted that the NSA has not been adequately funded for more than five years to enable it to carry out its mandate.
He said: “State governments have been hit by a lack of confidence in spending, so it is mandatory for the federal government to inject more budget to increase state spending, among others.
“The assembly made several observations and recommendations that would help the government meet the challenge of a lack of confidence in the country. “
It said that the work of the Committee was continuing with key stakeholders and that they would meet more as the need arising to inform the Council of progress made in combating lack of confidence and crime in the country.
