World Bank approves 35 states in Nigeria for US$1. 5 billion COVID-19 stimulus package

The World Bank has 35 legal states to take advantage of the US$1. 5 billion stimulus package for Nigerian states to cushion the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan consists of the world bank’s rapid general fiscal relief for Nigeria, following a discussion between its national director and the Economic Sustainability Committee, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The next five states on the grant list are Plateau, Yobe, Ondo, Benue, and Osun, while Nassarawa State has still published the account details.

Sule said the ad hoc committee report also contained highlights of the four-week rules under way on the prolonged timing of the facilitated closure.

“The Council provides that the President of the NGF (Forum of Governors of Nigeria) and two other governors shall meet with the Secretary of the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Finance and the Inspector General of Police to coordinate the correct use of the police of the budget network in states.

He said the assembly also noted that the NSA has not been adequately funded for more than five years to enable it to carry out its mandate.

“The assembly made several observations and recommendations that would help the government meet the challenge of a lack of confidence in the country. “
