Windsor calls for a control lab to handle COVID-19 swabs

A laboratory capable of manipulating COVID-19 swabs could be on its way to Windsor if approved throughout the province, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Office.

Medical Health Officer Dr. Wajid Ahmed stated that fitness had two possible proponents for the site, one of which was Windsor Regional Hospital.

A proposal submitted for provincial approval that was supported by the fitness board, Ahmed said.

“It would be a personal laboratory, but some of that validation comes from public health, but it will run through a personal agency,” Ahmed said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“We want it, especially when we enter the moment waveArray . . . you want a quick change. “

Ahmed may simply not specify an accurate location, as in the end the province will be based on the call and the places advised through the developers.

“We hope this will happen as soon as possible,” Ahmed said.

Windsor-Essex may have had an installation capable of handling COVID-19 tests, however, fitness officials say the provincial lab that allegedly tried the tests closed in 2010 and eventually demolished to make way for Herb Gray Drive.

Located on Huron Church Road, the lab is one of 12 such facilities controlled by the Ontario government and tests for diseases such as tuberculosis and West Nile virus.

It was due to close in January 2010, officially closing in October of the same year and despite everything demolished to allow the structure of the new road.

“The fitness workplace was very noisy at the time because it made a difference for usArray . . . especially COVID-19,” executive director and lead nurse Theresa Marentette said Tuesday.

“At normal times, we sent a lot of samples to the Ontario Public Health lab and now we’re sending them all to London and moving to Toronto.

These samples come with tracking beach tests from the fitness office as well as flu samples.
