Located about 120 km (75 miles) southwest of Athens, the Bronze Age castle town controlled the chimney in good condition, according to The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni.
However, the flames blackened the 3250-year-old Lion Gate, the front of the ancient city.
“The damage done through yesterday’s chimney was the least possible,” Mendoni said on a stopover at the site on Monday.
“Firefighters temporarily acted Array … and the preventive measures worked: dry plants had been cleared. That’s what stored the monuments.”
Meanwhile, more than 3,100 people in Spain have been forced to evacuate due to a forest fireplace in the southern region of Andalusia.
The chimney broke out Thursday in the mountains near the city of Almonaster Los Angeles Real, about 120 km northwest of Seville.
As the flames traveled a hundred square kilometers (38.5 square miles) of the area, 16 helicopters and 8 aircraft were sent to more than 500 staff members to fight the fire.
Firefighters and the army emergency worker corps worked around the clock during the weekend, but crews struggled to succeed in all affected spaces due to rugged terrain.
On Saturday, another 70 people were evacuated due to a chimney in a forest in Mula, a small town in the southeast of the Murcia region, while firefighters also fought two forest fires in the western region of Extremadura.
Sicily in Italy has also suffered wildfires in recent days, and local media reported that fires occurred in five other spaces on Saturday night.
About 100 more people were evacuated from their homes in the Altofonte region of Palermo.
The Canadair joined firefighting efforts in the early hours of Sunday, firefighters said on Twitter.
Altofonte Mayor Angela De Luca said on Facebook that the situation remained “serious.”
