The wife of a British father imprisoned in Iraq fears for her life after receiving an agonizing phone call from prison.
Brian Glendinning’s wife has revealed she fears he will feel unwell after receiving a harrowing phone call from her criminal in Baghdad, Iraq.
Glendinning, 43, from Kincardine, a small town on the north coast of Fife, Scotland, has been jailed in Iraq for an unpaid bank loan of £20,000 to Qatar, Edinburgh Live reports.
The father of 3 is due to start working as a structural engineer at a BP oil refinery, but was arrested after flying to Basra International Airport on Sept. 4.
He was later surprised to note that Qatar had issued an Interpol Red Notice related to the unpaid debt, which had been incurred through the 43-year-old man in 2016.
His circle of relatives also reported in the past that he had paid back the loan money, to the point that he was forced to abandon his task the following year due to health problems, reports the Daily Record.
His wife Kimberly, 39, has now revealed she fears for her well-being amid allegations of bars in “terrible conditions,” and said she won a heartbreaking call from the detention center where Brian has been held for more than a month.
The worried woman said, “He’s not doing well. It has no energy. I think he gave up. The situations are terrible. “
“We are looking to get him paracetamol and a stopover at the embassy. It is disheartening to hear stories of others who were imprisoned for more than a year even though everything was exonerated and released.
“Brian is in an excessive situation, he is and it can happen to anyone. “
Meanwhile, his brother, John Glendinning, who also works as an engineer, campaigns for his brother’s and to reunite him with his relatives.
Commenting on the situation, Radha Stirling, an extradition crisis representative who has helped the family, said: “He doesn’t stop. John texts me asking what else he can do. “
“This is a desperate scenario and they are well aware that they may lose a beloved member of the circle of relatives. No circle of relatives has to go through this. Brian’s MP has written to Qatar’s ambassador to the UK to interfere and help. “

Chapman added: “With the World Cup set to start soon in Qatar, now is not the time for the hosts to grab the headlines for all the reasons and I hope that, in that case, common sense prevails. “
A spokesman for the Foreign Office, Commonwealth and Development said: “We are offering a Briton who has been arrested in Iraq and is in contact with local authorities. “
