Why we are stepping up COVID vaccination – Commissioner

Last week, the governor reported the Covid-19 vaccination scale 3. 0. What is it about?

If you remember, last year in March there was a national flag on vaccination against Covid-19, which was then also done by all states. We reported with our Governor and other members of the Executive Council and have had campaigns ever since. The expansion strategy is designed to succeed in all eligible citizens, i. e. over the age of 18, with the Covid-19 vaccine. This is the third iteration and is therefore called 3. 0. It is designed to animate our national policy to around 70%. As you know, the more people who get the vaccine, the more protected the total population will be. Thus, the objective of the 3. 0 scale is to reach 70% of this policy. Kaduna State has recorded that about 61% of eligible citizens have won at least one dose of the vaccine. And about 37% to 40% have won two doses and are fully vaccinated. About 75,000 gained the top dose of spices. So, with the Scales 3. 0 campaign, our goal is to have more accountability, more network engagement, and more follow-up, so that we can achieve this goal.

An increase in Covid cases was reported between June and July. What must have explained this accumulation in the number of infections? We thought we had achieved herd immunity because many other people were vaccinated and therefore infections were low.

As you know, the more inflamed unvaccinated people are, the more likely the virus is to mutate. This is the reason for the vaccination campaign. We have not achieved herd immunity, but we are close to achieving it. The survey that was conducted last year places us at approximately 25% of other people who have been exposed to covid infection. Therefore, vaccination is designed to develop coverage rather than the virus and in achieving herd immunity; We’re working on that. But before that, other people still need to take precautions and know that we are not immune, the rest of the world is riddled with spikes, and other people are moving from one position to another.

An alarm went off two months later, in Lapasss state, when they saw a spike in cases. And that was what we noticed; other people are swollen, but they don’t get very sick. Maybe it’s because some have gained at least one dose of vaccine and some are fully vaccinated or possibly had the infection, so if they flare up again, the symptoms are minor, they’re not very sick, and we haven’t noticed more people getting sick. seriously or die more. a strain that escapes the shield of existing vaccines and we may also start to have another pandemic. That’s why we pay close attention to other people who faint and get vaccinated. These vaccines have been shown to be effective and protect other people from serious illness and death. And I think we deserve to take credit for them because they’re free.

There seems to be more emphasis on vaccination than on prevention. Won’t this roll back the gains of vaccination if other people don’t wash their hands with running water, wear masks, practice social distancing, eat balanced nutrition, and exercise?

Emphasis has never been placed on public fitness measures. They have been there, and they excel in each and every phase of the crusade. The presidential technical team on Covid-19 has not yet lifted the ban on wearing a mask. in public places. What they said that if you’re in a crowded place, in an enclosed space, you have to wear your mask. Wanting hands existed even before Covid-19, for centuries. It is known to save you from water- or food-borne diseases. Therefore, these public health measures have never ceased. Vaccination has only been used in conjunction with certain public health measures, as either will protect you more. Therefore, just because you’re vaccinated doesn’t mean you shouldn’t clean your hands regularly, especially when touching surfaces or people. The FORWARD crusade is still relevant, not only for Covid-19 but also for other diseases that can be transmitted by food or air. People want to have balanced nutrition to make sure they improve their immunity.

The one that is not practiced much is social distancing. Well, masking? You still see other people dressed in masks, the ones who are very aware of their health. You see them with their masks, when they’re in a crowded place, they put them on. And that’s what we encourage. If you’re in an enclosed area and in the middle of a crowd, it’s smart to wear your mask.

According to his explanation, he seems to agree that other people have let their guard down on public fitness measures. What is your ministry doing to raise awareness of the need to practice them?

Well that’s natural. This is the time of year that we have the Covid pandemic. We are social beings, we interact with each other and we continue to remember other people. Before, it was masked everywhere, but now we know that some other people got vaccinated and others got the disease. The numbers have dropped due to the double tool of public health measures and vaccination. But that doesn’t mean that because you’re vaccinated you might not get inflamed. An old example is President Joe Biden of the United States. He had 4 doses of vaccines, and he still has more. Therefore, vaccination does not guarantee that you are not infected with the virus, but only that you are protected against serious illness or death. Again, some other people’s immune formula is so strong that they may not get it, other people will get inflamed but get a milder form of it. And that is what the vaccine promised. The vaccine did not promise a cure. Being vaccinated guarantees that if you do get the disease, it will be mild. And that means protecting other people who might be more at risk.

So we didn’t do it to remind other people. We always insist and call on other people to respect at all times all public health measures: wash your hands, wear a mask in enclosed and crowded spaces where there is not much air circulating. And especially when other people have symptoms. If I have a bleeding and coughing and sneezing, not just because of Covid, it’s smart to restrict the number of other people who can catch my bleeding, even if it’s not Covid. And masking is helping with that. So we’ve been constantly reminding other people that those public fitness measures are vital, and the most important thing is that we don’t get some other mutant variant that we can’t all handle. I’m sure no one wants to go back into lockdown.

As the government ramps up vaccination, is there an increase in testing?

Yes, in recent weeks we have had the help of the WHO and almost 50,000 more people have been tested. And maybe that can make some of the spikes. Many other people are asymptomatic. We have tested in communities and test corps members who come from other parts of the country. Some of them are positive. But like I said, it’s a milder disease; we are probably dealing with the same strain of virus or even a weaker strain that has mutated. The way the virus mutates, it can become weaker or stronger. And we think it’s probably weaker or that the vaccines protect other people from the disease. Therefore, it is very important that other people get vaccinated. They are there, they are loose and they are available. And during this testing campaign, we are also taking the opportunity to vaccinate other people in the communities. So other people have to go to their gyms to get shots and we have cell organizations going back and forth. And we have organizations that are in the highest traffic locations. We are almost there. The other organization we’ll be looking at is the one that took their first dose but didn’t take their current dose.

What about those who took their first and last dose but didn’t take the third booster dose?

All are available to everyone, the more doses you take, the more potent your immunity will be.

Can I take more than 3 doses?

We just got the recommendation from the National Agency for Primary Health Care Development (NPHDA) that 4 months after your first withdrawal, you are eligible for another withdrawal. But we inspire this for other people who have underlying situations and also in the elderly because their immune formula is not so strong. It’s open, other people can pass by and do it, but we inspire other people who have comorbidities, who have diabetes, high blood pressure and central disease, the ones who have cancer.

Are other people still skeptical about the vaccine?

We had a hesitation challenge at first. We still have the wallet, but in general, now that more people have been vaccinated and haven’t had any destructive effects, other people now think it’s safe. Therefore, more and more people are taking it. According to our records, more than 61% of the state’s eligible population has taken at least one dose. Therefore, regardless of their reserves, they realized that it was not sustainable. People who took the vaccine didn’t revel in any side effects other than the overall-looking effect they might have, which is a bit of a fever and pain at the site. This is not unusual for maximum vaccines.
