Lawmakers voted to approve a report from an opposition-controlled committee that lays out a total of nine criminal charges against Bolsonaro over a backlash that left Brazil with the second-highest number of coronavirus deaths in the world.

A more than 1,300-page draft of the report called for the president to be charged with genocide and murder, but senators “decided to drop” those charges for “technical reasons,” the Telegraph said. But “they decided to include ten other people on the list of accused Americans,” bringing the total to 78, adding Bolsonaro as well as two companies.
