WHO reports a build-up of global COVID-19 cases in one day, more than 307,000

LONDON: The World Health Organization on Sunday reported a record increase in a day of coronavirus cases worldwide, and the total expanded to 307,930 in 24 hours.

The largest come from India, the United States and Brazil, according to the agency’s website, with more than 5,537 deaths for a total of 917,417.

India reported 94,372 new cases, followed by the United States with 45,523 new infections and Brazil with 43,718.

The United States and India have reported more than 1,000 new deaths, and Brazil has reported 874 deaths in the past 24 hours.

On 6 September, WHO recorded 306,857 new cases, while the firm reported a record 12,430 deaths on 17 April.

India leads the world in new reported instances every day and set a world record last week with 97,570 instances reported in a day without getting married, according to a Reuters count.

In some parts of India, medical oxygen is complicated, with the total number of cases exceeding 4. 75 million. The United States alone recorded more cases with 6. 5 million. COVID-19 infections continue to accumulate in 58 countries, adding outbreaks in Argentina, Indonesia, Morocco, Spain and Ukraine, according to a Reuters analysis.

The new instances have dropped in the United States and have dropped by about 44 since the peak of more than 77,000 new instances reported on July 16. Cases in Brazil also have a downward trend.
