Concern over the fate of jailed Egyptian-British activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah is growing as he continues his hunger strike to protest his years-long detention by the Egyptian government for spreading false information.
On Sunday, as world leaders gathered in Egypt for the COP27 climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Abd el-Fattah announced he had stopped drinking water.
Family members and observers involved fear he will die within days and call for his speedy release. The UK government said it is pushing for his release.
