WHO coronavirus vaccine trials to cost 89 million pesos

MANILA, Philippines – The government plans to spend 89 million pesos to host solidarity trials through the World Health Organization (WHO), but the charge for the COVID-19 vaccine will be borne by the World Health Agency, according to the Ministry of Health. (DOH).

He said the Philippines will pay for operating expenses such as transportation, bloodless chain and laboratory supplies, such as protective devices to be used for the trial, which will most likely begin in December.

Previously, the Secretary of Science and Technology, Fortunato dela Pea, said 12 hospitals had been known as sites, with the Philippine General Hospital being the main executor of the project.

Trial participants can choose between five and ten barangays with the number of COVID-19 instances in the country, according to Dela Pea.

On Saturday, the DOH reported 2,674 new cases, bringing the national total to 319,330,58,606 active cases.

The total number of COVID-19 survivors rose to 255,046 with the recovery of 459 more patients; however, the death toll increased to 5,678, with 62 patients succumbing to severe respiratory disease.

A total of 3,602,725 patients were evaluated through the 138 accredited laboratories on Saturday lunchtime.
