The findings coincide with a resolution through Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Public Health on quarantine guidelines. At the same time, Reynolds said that while face masks are effective in slowing down the spread of the virus, he will want them in schools.

The outlook is not much higher in Iowa, with 70% of all counties that have moderate or high degrees of network transmission, and 29% have higher degrees of network transmission that put them in the red zone.
The working group notes that check positivity and case rates have remained in Iowa grades over the past 4 weeks, “putting Iowa in a vulnerable position in the fall and winter. “
The working group called on Iowa to “introduce mask needs in the state, with reduced capacity for indoor restaurants and bars, while expanding options for outdoor dining. “Reynolds resisted requests for a state mask order, saying he trusted the people of Iowa to act responsiblely.
The working group also urges Iowa to use another set of parameters, such as west Virginia, on how to manage school learning and extracurricular activity options.
