Governments around the world have imposed or are imposing restrictions on travelers from China as coronavirus cases rise in the country following the relaxation of “zero-COVID” rules.
Countries cited China’s lack of data on variants and are concerned about a wave of infections. The World Health Organization called the precautionary measures “understandable” in light of the lack of data and suggested Beijing provide more information on genetic sequencing. such as numbers of hospitalizations, deaths and vaccinations.
China rejected the complaint about its knowledge of COVID-19 and said it hopes long-term mutations will potentially be more transmissible but less severe.
Here is a list of countries that have imposed restrictions on travelers from China:
USA. The U. S. government will impose mandatory COVID-19 on travelers from China starting Jan. 5. All air passengers over the age of two will want a negative verification result no more than two days before departure from China, Hong Kong or Macau.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said U. S. citizens also deserve to reconsider China, Hong Kong and Macau.
The UK will require a negative COVID-19 before passengers leave China from January 5, the Department of Health announced Friday.
France will require travelers from China to provide a negative COVID result less than 48 hours before departure. Since Jan. 1, France has also been conducting random COVID PCR upon arrival of some travelers from China, a government official told reporters.
The French government has also suggested the other 26 member states of the European Union to Chinese COVID travelers.
Those traveling from China to Australia will be required to test negative for COVID-19 from Jan. 5, Australian Health Minister Mark Butler said Sunday.
Butler cited Beijing’s “lack of complete information” on COVID-19 cases as an explanation for the requirement.
China’s South Asian neighbor ordered a negative COVID-19 report for travelers from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. Passengers from those countries will be quarantined if they have symptoms or test positive.
Air travelers to Canada from China will need to test negative for COVID-19 no more than two days before departure, Ottawa officials said.
Japan requires a negative COVID-19 result on arrival for travelers from mainland China. Those who test positive will have to quarantine for seven days.
The new border measures for China went into effect on December 30. The government will also restrict airline requests to build flights to China.
Italy ordered COVID-19 antigen swabs and virus sequencing for all travelers from China. Milan’s main airport, Malpensa, had already received passengers from Beijing and Shanghai.
Spain says it will require a negative COVID-19 or a full course of vaccination against the disease upon arrival of travelers from China.
Malaysia will screen all incoming travelers for fever and sewage from aircraft from China for COVID-19.
Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center said all passengers on direct flights from China, as well as by boat on two offshore islands, will be required to undergo PCR tests upon arrival, starting Jan. 1.
South Korea will require travelers from China to provide negative COVID effects before departure, South Korean news firm News1 reported.
Morocco will impose a ban on others arriving from China from January 3, regardless of their nationality, highlighting the need for “a new wave of pollution” and “all its consequences. “
Qatar will require travelers arriving from China from Jan. 3 to provide a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours prior to departure, official news firm QNA said.
