For those who don’t go to the article. I copied under the vital advice. I’ve taught young people ages 7 to 14 for decades. Array… it’s wonderful advice… namely, to keep a learning diary. I write things I don’t need to forget in a newspaper … don’t I?
– Real-world experiences
– Teachers or mentors who ask questions
– Keep a diary
– Instruction scored through student comprehension that the calendar
– Learning groups small and intimate enough to communicate “think out loud” about problems.
“Textbooks, teacher speeches, and computer screens provide young people with consistent information, yet they have been ‘processed’. Interesting, artistic and intellectually stimulating paintings have already been made, leaving nothing to be done yet. Never mind.
“Would you publish the finished crossword journals? What other young people do not want is the ‘raw’ truth of chewing truth in a way that lends itself to description, research, and interpretation.
“Primary datathe “residue” of realityprovides it. However, for kids to engage, data has to come in the form of puzzles, problems and projects, with lesson aims they consider important enough for attention to be paid, and content interesting enough to be self-propelling.
But a recommendation is needed. Teams of teachers with a variety of skills should monitor groups and comment or ask questions. “
I think it’s shallow and stupid to think that young people can be taught on a screen. To learn, you have to have visual, tactile, olfactory, auditory and even taste interaction. Lick your screen.
It’s a pifia to do that to the kids. Separate them from playmates, ban hugs. Separate them from the games and play. Absolutely thief.
Teach a pit bull to socialize with other dogs by zooming in, then place it in a room with your poodle. The global has gone mad! Elevating computer learning from a smaller tool to the single tool is the craziest access to the perverse matrix I can imagine. Sick
You and I don’t agree, but we’re on the same page here.
I’ve been training for over 3 decades and I know WLLL: what learning looks like! When Harvard was given the $$ Pew to study the principles of learning, my practice was selected to be part of the New York cohort because all my seventh graders learned to write so well this year after year, they were the most sensitive in the states… and taught all grades 7 and I, the new York State educator of excellence. As I did Motivation is the key. Knowing each and every child the key. Our interactions have been so harsh that to this day, my students place me on social media and tell me what I did for them when they were thirteen. 20 to 30 years ago Array.. before the screens
it’s all about learning… however, the education and in the hedge fund market and its lobbyists are winning.
Profit driven tests incessant evaluations have been hurting education for a long while. DeVos wants to privatize it all. I fear she will seize this opportunity to put all education on screens where it can be adjusted by the Ministry of Truth from one central place, to keep our students current with the misinformation of the day.
The mental harm caused to young people by doing to other people and even touching evil and threats scares me deeply.
