The Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic are scheduled to start Game 32 of the NBA in Mexico City on Thursday (9:30 p. m. ET, NBA TV).
Here’s what you want to know about the two groups coming up in the match:
The Hawks: Atlanta, winner of 4 of its last five games, makes its first appearance in Mexico City. Trae Young’s team is looking to get back to the speed it set a few years ago when it reached the convention finals. So far, well, Quin Snyder’s leadership in his first full season as coach.
Snyder’s main task right now is to give Young some tips on power. The former All-Star guard is coming off a mediocre season in that regard, and once back he’s struggling, shooting 33. 6% overall and 27. 3% on three-pointers.
But better news: Jalen Johnson. His scoring and rebounding averages have increased dramatically, and he surprised by replacing the last John Collins. Dejounte Murray also seems to be accelerating on both sides.

“I went (to Mexico) for a visit. But I haven’t been to Mexico City, so it’s the first time I’ve been there. I can’t wait to get in there (to) check it out, put on a display and win there. What I hear is that there’s a lot of power and excitement in (Mexico City) when it comes to basketball.
The Magic: Orlando is no stranger to Mexico City and will technically be the home team. The Magic seem to be making progress and showing signs of staying afloat, especially if they continue to play defense. They sit fourth in the defensive standings as of Thursday.
Paolo Banchero, Kia’s reigning rookie of the year, has been plagued by turnovers this season and continues to be productive. He is averaging 25. 6 points, 8 rebounds and seven assists in his last 3 games.
The custody lockout will have to be resolved, likely by the industry deadline. Until then, Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz and Gary Harris will do the trick for now. First-round pick Anthony Black has to wait his turn.
