After a covid-related hiatus, British Airways is flying to Gatwick Airport again, albeit with a smaller selection of destinations.

Short-haul operations restarted in 2022 following the launch of subsidiary BA BA Euroflyer. Long-haul flights are operated through the British Airways line with a committed fleet of 12 Boeing 777s.

You can expect the same inflight service as you would from Heathrow when flying British Airways from London Gatwick. There are no differences, except that the Gatwick long haul fleet is not scheduled to be upgraded to BA’s Club Suite at any point. You are guaranteed the old Club World seat.

British Airways flies to 18 long-haul destinations from Gatwick, the vast majority only operating a few times a week.

All long-haul flights from BA to Gatwick are operated by Boeing 777-200ERs. Lately there are twelve at Gatwick that feature a three-class configuration, with Club World (business class), World Traveler Plus (premium economy) and World Traveler (economy).

These aircraft feature 10-across economy seating and were refurbished in 2018 and 2019. They now feature upgraded in-flight entertainment screens and new soft finishes.

Please note that Club Suite, BA’s ‘new’ Business Elegant seat, does not operate from Gatwick. The Business Elegant cabin features the old 2-4-2 yin-yang seat that has no direct aisle or personal doors (image below).

British Airways will fly 38 from Gatwick this summer.

All of these routes will be operated through BA Euroflyer, British Airways’ new economy subsidiary. However, the “low charge” detail applies only to the charge basis. The service and benefits on board, adding access to the lounge, are the same as those presented. On BA’s mainline flights, Gatwick flights use a different catering service than Heathrow.

All flights operate from London Gatwick South Terminal.

Check-in closes 60 minutes before long haul departures and 45 minutes before short haul departures, and you must clear security at least 35 minutes before your flight departures.

If you’re travelling in Club World or Club Europe (Business Class) or British Airways Executive Club Bronze, Silver or Gold, baggage drop opens at 4am. m. for same-day departures.

Anyone traveling in fancy economy class can do so two hours before departure, but not before four in the morning.

British Airways offers an overnight luggage storage service in Gatwick. It is available for flights departing before 1:00 p. m. m. of the next day. You can drop off your luggage between 6:00 p. m. and nine o’clock in the noche. la night before.

If you are checking in bags for other passengers on your booking, you must bring their passports and travel documents.

You will need to go through security at Gatwick Airport at least 35 minutes before departure.

Premium Security is offered to British Airways passengers who:

Expedited security screening is open from 4:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m.

British Airways operates two lounges at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal. They are well regarded and often considered superior to their counterparts at Heathrow.

Both lounges are located on the mezzanine level of the lobby. DO NOT go down the escalator! The easiest way to locate them is to turn left into this hallway past the security checkpoint:

Some SH routes are seasonal

But BAEF still plans to bring its flights online.

No AMS is uploaded after Friday, October 24, for example. It doesn’t complicate bookings.

It also flies to Cape Town a few times a week.

Okay, I came back to LGW from the CPT earlier this month.

Last month I flew on LGW-DOH.

WTF, seriously, quote: “You can expect the same in-flight service as from Heathrow when you fly with British Airways from London Gatwick. “In my experience, this has never been the case: it comes from a press release or bad journalism. (or both). ), a higher qualifier would have been ‘BA affirms. . . ‘”

“You can expect the same service on board as at Heathrow. . . I know other tour authors would question that, saying that Club Europa crews do as little as possible.
