The month is rarely over yet, but don’t you think January lasted at least 8 weeks this time? Here are some of the things that explained the month to us and set the tone for 20024.
A is for the Age of Aquarius/AI/ Are you there God, it’s us, humans?
You know that feeling you have in your stomach when exams or deadlines are just a few days away but you haven’t done anything yet? Somehow the start of 2024 has us feeling super unsure about what we’re doing. This year, we shall blame it on the astrological event of Pluto moving into Aquarius (yes, that’s not what the Age of Aquarius is, we know), which is meant to cause upheavals in the world order and new discoveries which leads us to AI, aka Artificial Intelligence, putting the fear of god in people across all professions around the world, who can’t stop about that damn AI coming into their lives, taking their jobs, and stealing their wives. Good thing most of us aren’t Trump-heads or we’d be building a wall to keep all intelligence – artificial or otherwise – far out of our lives forever. And finally, with the economic recession, rampant homelessness, and commodification of everything from celebrity to medicine at the degree it is being done right now, we think a good ol’ joint prayer to the powers above is the need of the day.
M is for wedding(s)
You know exactly who we’re talking about! Look, it’s smart that he’s discovered some righteous and successful women as wives, but while any end of marriage is notoriously unhappy and traumatic, no one talks enough about the fact that Malik managed to get caught in the cat in 2008. As it happens, it was. The web had been around for at least ten years in Pakistan, mIRC and MSN Messenger were old news and we had Facebook and Orkut to talk about. And not only did he fall in love with the woman talking on the phone, but he also married her!If you’ve ever been cheated, you might not think it’s that abnormal, but let’s just say it’s not entirely normal either. That someone in his twenties is so deceived. In the Age of Aquarius, no less!
E is for Epstein files
Does fraternizing with someone who is known to be truly evil make someone evil through association?Jefferey Epstein, best known for doing nothing until he meets and entertains other important people, has been in and out of courtrooms and prisons since 2005, with accusations of soliciting and trafficking underage sex, and allegedly committed suicide on his mobile phone in 2019. A full list of names of other people who linked to Epstein, flew on his private jet, or traveled and remained on his island was released earlier this month. Although many of Epstein’s most famous acquaintances have distanced themselves from him and said so publicly, it is often very difficult for anyone to know what this man’s real game was and leave it at that. produce because you may simply invest in your charity. Either a political crusade or a film studio is just plain stupid. Or intentionally ignorant. And maybe it’s a natural naivety, but let’s hope that the antics of Pluto-Aquarius will bear fruit in terms of bringing down corrupt systems and archaic qualifiers of authority and influence.
J is for Jinnah the movie
The highly debatable Jinnah, released in 1998, is available on Blu-Ray, in a limited edition comprising many anecdotes, ideas, and insider data about the making and history of the film. Directed by Jamil Dehalvi, Jinnah stars Christopher Lee as the title character.
S is for snobs
And what snubs there have been! We believe that the Oscar noms are hardly your highest priority right now unless you’re in the business, but the one that has everyone talking is the snub Margot Robbie received as the star of Barbie and Greta Gerwig as director. TBF, despite being the highest Hollywood grosser of 2023, Barbie may not have landed the same way for everyone. What you can focus on is that the movie is among Best Picture nominees, and that’s pretty cool, given how many people thought it was exclusively or simultaneously misogynistic and misandrist.
X is for the new pandemic or X is for the new pandemic
The gentle giants of the WHO have spoken and ask us to prepare for a new global pandemic in 2024!P. S. COVID-19 has also occurred around some sort of transiting activity from Pluto. It’s no surprise that the solar formula continues to exclude it from the main category of planets. Go home to Pluto, you make us all sad.
Z is for Zayn Malik and Aur
It’s nice to see Zayn Malik teaming up with young Pakistani band for their single ‘Tu Hai Kahan’, and although we aren’t quite impressed by the song, it would be fun to see more international musicians teaming up with Pakistani ones. Also Zayn rounds the Z section of this list off nicely. It was between Zayn Malik and zombie apocalypse, but that would have been too grim. You’re welcome.
B is for intolerance
Although none of us physically live in the Republic of India, Pakistanis still automatically assume that we are familiar with India due in large part to similar language and customs, and the fact that the two countries are essentially conjoined twins, surgically separated. . But the main link between India and Pakistan has been Bollywood. We think we know India, we know the Indians, we perceive their politics and their culture, because Bollywood films have been a component of our cultural nutrition forever. So when stars you like seem to tolerate what you might consider an affront to one of their country’s minorities, you may reconsider your admiration for said stars based on their politics. Muslims make up India’s largest devout minority, around 14% of the population, and the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992, which sparked some of the worst Hindu-Muslim riots in the country, and the takeover of Ram Mandir last week. The site could have simply rubbed salt into lingering wounds. That said, if you agree that the feelings, security and heritage of minorities (ethnic, devout, sectarian) in any country will have to be protected, then definitely check if they are really preserved in yours and if you see an injustice . your voice.
N is for the number of days Palestine has been under siege
114. That is how long it would be on this date. And while life goes on in our own little worlds and in big ways, there is no reason why an attack at this scale should be allowed to continue for so long.
R for Red Tax of the Siege of Gaza
In the past, women took medication to delay their periods, and now that we are nearing the end of the fourth month of the war, Gaza’s approximately 700,000 women of menstrual age probably no longer have features that can delay their periods. Not having access to the things women want during their period, such as sanitary pads or water, Gazans have to go to hotels to cut tents like towels. The WHO has obviously explained menstrual hygiene control as access to hygiene products and water for handwashing, and literally sheds light on how the criteria set through global entities really mean nothing in times of crisis.
