WARMINGTON: Canadian airline crew detained for months in Dominican Republic to be released

As soon as they heard the news that they would be released from detention in the Dominican Republic, the Pivot Airlines flight crew collapsed.

He is one of the team members stranded there since April 5.

They were arrested and jailed through the Dominican Republic government after informing law enforcement there and in Canada about suspicious packages hidden in an onboard computer bay.

After nine days in a drug prison, they were released on bail and lived under armed surveillance in an undisclosed location while the company and lawyers tried to secure their freedom.

That day has nevertheless arrived.

“We found out last night at nine o’clock in the evening,” Rozov said.

The team is very nervous about an upcoming hearing that could have revoked their bail and put them back in jail.

Needless to say, it has been a nightmare for them.

“It’s been very difficult,” Rozov said.

And they still don’t know when they’re coming back.

“It can last up to two weeks,” Rozov said.

This is evident when Pivot Airlines CEO Eric Edmondson told The Sun that a personal investigator had uncovered video evidence proving his team was not involved.

Reports imply that all seven passengers on board are expected to be released.

On a Friday, Edmondson said Pivot Airlines was “deeply relieved” that the airline’s team members were returning home.

“We are grateful for their courage, resilience and honesty in this devastating ordeal. When they return to Canada, they will come back as heroes, as they deserve,” Edmondson said.

He said the company did not have a timeline for his return.

“There have been many delays and uncertainty in this case, and we urge the government of the Dominican Republic to initiate the procedure to release the team without delay,” Edmondson said.
