The National Department of Health (DoH) of South Africa and Discovery have teamed up to launch a COVID-19 alert app to look for strategies for existing contacts in the country.
The app is a flexible exposure notification tool that users should know if they have been in close contact with who tested positive for COVID-19.
It uses Bluetooth touch tracking technology, which only tracks nearby touches (proximity) between smartphones and real smartphone locations.
Once users have downloaded and installed the app, it will run in the background. Bluetooth and notifications must be enabled for the app to paint and users must have access to a cellular or Wi-Fi network to send and receive exposure alerts.
When users of the close touch app receive an exposure notification, they also get information about what to do next to automatic quarantine and to optimize their fitness and well-being.
Vodacom has now announced that it will reduce the app to 0, which means that Vodacom consumers who download the app will be able to do so through the ConnectU platform, which is aimed at the prepaid market, especially consumers who simply can’t access the Internet on a daily basis. .
“By working with the government and other key stakeholders on our social contract, Vodacom remains committed to localizing cutting-edge tactics to lessen the spread of coronavirus. It is transparent that to avoid a human disaster of enormous proportions in our country, giant corporations like since Vodacom will have to be reactive in this environment and use its own fundamental resources and functions to help the government combat the pandemic,” says Takalani. Netshitenzhe, Director of External Affairs at Vodacom South Africa.
“By reducing site stocks in our network, we are minimizing communication barriers for South Africans while selling fitness and safety. “
