Visit the National Parks in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is home to amazing high-end hotels and resorts, but visitors will also be seduced by its striking national parks, which offer biodiversity, landscapes, and unique recreational opportunities.

Located in the southeast of the country, this park encompasses a variety of eco-formulas, including pristine beaches, coral reefs, mangroves and subtropical forests. Visitors can explore Saona Island, the park’s top popular attraction, known for its white-sand beaches and crystal clear waters. You’ll also need it at Playa Palmilla, a secluded beach with pristine sand and calm waters. The Cave of Wonders is an attractive underground cave located near the park.

Located in the northeast region, Los Haitises is famous for its stunning limestone karst landscapes, mangrove forests, and abundance of bird species. Boat tours through the park’s network of mangrove-lined canals offer wildlife, ancient Taino rock art, and hidden caves. Visitors can take guided hikes along local trails, and photographers can capture many stunning landscapes.

Located in the southwest of the country, Jaragua is the largest national park in the Dominican Republic and encompasses a variety of habitats, adding dry forests, coastal lagoons, and marine environments. The park is home to unique species such as the American crocodile, the West Indian manatee, and the endangered Ricord’s iguana. Visitors deserve to see the Bay of Eagles, hike to the Sierra de Bahoruco, or take a boat or kayak to the Oviedo Lagoon.
