MANILA, Philippines (AP) – An earthquake shook the center of the Philippines on Tuesday and killed at least one person, wounded dozens and damaged houses, two buildings used for 40 coronaviruses, bridges and a port.
A three-story space collapsed on the shore of the city of Cataingan when the floor shook; a retired police officer trapped in the rubble died and rescuers searched for other relatives missing from the circle; more than 40 people were injured by the earthquake. in the province of Masbate, according to officials reacting to the crisis.
More than a hundred other people who were quarantined opposite the coronaviruses in two broken government buildings in Cataingan have been moved to school buildings for their safety, the Office of Civil Defense said.The earthquake also broke roads, bridges and a port.
“People don’t return without delay to broken structures,” Rino Revalo, a provincial masbate administrator, told ABS-CBN.
The 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred about five kilometers (3 miles) from Cataingan with an intensity of about 21 kilometers (13 miles), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
Isagani Libatan, a resident of Cataingan, said she was on her way to her aunt’s space for breakfast when her motorcycle suddenly deflected when the floor soared.
“I think it’s my tire, but other people suddenly panicked at the homes that were swaying and we lost power,” Libatan said on the phone, preventing as he felt a pretty strong replica.
The earthquake triggered through a motion of the Philippine Rift, said Renato Solidum, who heads the government’s Institute of Volcanology.It felt in several provinces in the central Visayas region.
