The greatest evil user on the planet will have to be a serial killer.
According to Merriam-Webster, a serial killer is “a user who commits a series of murders, for no obvious reason and regularly following a predictable characteristic and behavior. “
Immediate names come to mind when you think of the heinous human beings who claimed countless lives: Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Pedro Lopez and many others.
Jack the Ripper, whose identity remains a mystery, is attractive and remains a mystery today.
Years ago, Laureen and I took our children to London for a holiday. We saw the attractions: the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Piccadilly Circus and all the tourist places in England.
We were tourists and parents.
The most productive ones are saved for last.
At midnight, the “Jack the Ripper Walk at night” Whitechapel and Spitalfields in London.
It was a glorious night that scared our girls.
“Dad, I’m scared,” one of the women said.
“Well, keep turning your head for strangers,” I replied.
Jack is believed to have murdered at least five women during his reign of terror between August and November 1888.
Many innocent victims succumb to this deranged, but nothing compares to some of the known serial killers in the past.
But one is too much.
They all pale in comparison to the most disgusting and despicable serial killer of all time.
Countess Elizabeth Bathory is believed to be guilty of the murder of at least three to six hundred young women between 1590 and 1610.
His reasoning, the blood of young women, would maintain his youth and beauty.
In 1610, she was imprisoned for those atrocities and more than three hundred people testified against her. Bathroy was condemned and sentenced to be walled in one of its castles.
He died in 1614 at the age of 54.
Also for immortality.
The Guinness Book of World Records describes Bathory as the most prolific female serial killer in history.
So, recently, Laureen, my lovely wife and I ventured into Austria for a few weeks.
Quite transparingly, I’m in the middle of an old novel about Vlad Dracul from Romania and I looked to Hungary to investigate a little more. We haven’t had any luck in recent years because of COVID.
“We have a four-hour layover in Vienna before heading to Budapest,” I told Laureen on a Sunday night as I followed the flights.
“Vienna?” She replied, “Like Billy Joel’s 1977 song, ‘Vienna Is Waiting for You. ‘”
One of his favorite songs.
As the smart husband that I am, I replaced our plans. We would be in Austria for a few weeks. Vlad, your story has to wait until next year.
We had never been to this in Europe and we were delighted.
“No mask on planes,” I said.
“The space of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert,” Laureen replied.
“And no mask on planes,” I replied.
Vienna the city of art and music.
“You know, Elizabeth Bathory was given a start there,” I said.
The turn of the eyes can be heard in San Bernardino. “I just found the right dress for the Musikverein. “
I expected the concert corridor to have reclining seats and a comfortable headrest.
Vienna was founded around 500 a. AD when the Celts settled on the site of the Danube.
The story is too long for this article, but if a user has the possibility to go to Austria, this is the starting point.
It is a charming town of just two million inhabitants, with many places to visit; Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Prater, the Danube Tower and much more.
But it was October 2022 and we had to make a stopover where Bathory lived. We had to.
“We don’t have to go to his house,” Laureen said.
I nodded. ” If I spend a whole night of Mozart, let’s see where he lived. “
“I’m going to take a look and the music will be wonderful,” she replied.
“Billy Joel is playing?”
Elizabeth Bathory’s home in Vienna 12 Augustinerstra. However, when her crimes of murder and mayhem became public, she retired to a castle in neighboring Hungary, where homicides increased and became more deplorable.
It is said that when a user approaches the front of Vienna, the screams of the first victims of the countess’s depravity can be heard.
He had 4 servants who would seek out the lower sections of Vienna for his bloodshed ritual, promising eternal youth.
Arriving early in the evening, after a glorious day exploring Vienna’s highlights, Laureen looked at me.
“I don’t like this site. “
“We spent a lot of cash flying to Vienna,” I replied. That’s the component I don’t like. “
A breeze swept the street and I froze.
“Something bad, bad, happened here in this house,” Laureen said. “I feel the presence of something bad here. “
Laureen is susceptible to emotions related to the paranormal. I like myself as just normal.
The space where Bathory once resided is now privately owned. The best we can do is simply take pictures of the outside.
When we left, the door opened, and an older man dressed in a long, waving black cloak stepped out onto the porch. He smiled, revealing very long incisors.
“Can I be from you?”
We go.
This led us to one of the oldest districts of the city of Vienna. The houses were built in the Middle Ages, and it is believed that one street in particular is seriously haunted.
Blutgasse – or alley of blood.
This is where the Templars lived.
The Templars were an organization of Catholic infantrymen whose order was founded in 1118 in Jerusalem. Their main task was to provide passage to other people traveling to the Holy Land on pilgrimage.
Over the centuries, the Templars gained more and more prestige, power and wealth, which angered some.
One of those other people, King Philip IV of France, had borrowed gigantic sums from the Templars to pay for their war against England.
Another order of Catholic soldiers, such as the Knights Hospitaller, hated the Knights Templar.
The Hospitallers asked King Philip to have the Templars arrested for an avalanche of crimes, which they later considered false.
False or not, King Philip believed that this would be a wonderful way to triumph over the debt he owed to the Templars.
On October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France declared the destruction of the Templars in all areas.
It just so happened that it was a Friday, to begin with.
The Blutgasse is an alley covered with tall apartments with thick walls. It’s a dark and gloomy place, even in broad daylight.
The Templars lived in rooms in a picturesque courtyard with architecture next to Blutgasse.
It is here that in 1312 the Templars will be sought and massacred through the envoys of the King of France.
Phillip would have his debts erased with this last purge in Vienna that would end the Templars.
The knights fought heroically but died in such numbers that legend has it that blood flowed out of the alley.
We entered the driveway and Laureen didn’t feel anything. There were Templar crosses on the walls of the apartments indicating who had resided here.
When the driveway sloped a little into the street, Laureen stopped.
“I feel it’s a position of immense pain and sadness. “
Walking further down the hall, Laureen said her chest was heavy and she was struggling to breathe.
“A lot of suffering here. “
As we left the alley and courtyard of the Templars, Laureen stopped at the door.
“I can’t get into it. It’s too much now. “
I entered the courtyard. It’s incredibly quiet and dark. Although I didn’t have the same reactions as Laureen, there was something very dark about the tile floors and thick walls of this courtyard.
I don’t know what, but just anything I can’t explain.
Laureen nevertheless arrived after taking a brief break and explained how she felt.
“It was like someone or something crushed my lungs. I couldn’t breathe, the heaviness was horrible.
“A user or a feeling?”
She shook her head. ” I don’t know, however, brave men died here a long time ago, and I think some might not have found out. “
“What fact?”
“That they are dead. “
The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. “Really?”
“Yes. “
We left the courtyard a few minutes later and entered a magnificent sunny Vienna day.
Is the village haunted? Any position of more than a thousand years can simply be, and why Vienna?
Happy Halloween.
