Dubai: In what resembles a true story in time, Fares Abu Batin, a Saudi who was in a coma for four years, woke up in a world reshaped beyond his imagination.
The shocking episode led to an interview with Al Arabiya TV, where Fares recounted the amazing changes he experienced when he regained consciousness.
Fares’ story began in September 2019 when he and his two brothers were involved in a tragic automotive twist of fate involving a collision with a camel.
Unfortunately, his two brothers did not survive, while Fares, who was seriously injured with a narrow chance of survival of 9% according to doctors, went into a coma. He remained hospitalized, unconscious until March 20, 2023.
One of the first things Fares did after regaining consciousness was to ask for the Qur’an, which he read from cover to cover. detected many changes in society and found that urban progression in the country is quite important,” Fares said.
Among the unexpected highs was the news of the COVID-19 pandemic, which I had never heard of and could not perceive. “I was surprised to wake up after many events, adding the emergence of the pandemic. People were talking to me about COVID-19 or something called the corona pandemic, and I didn’t notice it and watched videos on YouTube,” Fares said.
In addition, Fares was pleasantly surprised to learn that his wife had discovered a job and raised their children alone while she was away.
He was also very happy with the progress being made in Saudi Arabia, as other people shared stories of pioneers and astronauts of the Kingdom.
