Via Rail is extending the suspension of two of its long-distance routes as the country continues to fight the wave of the new coronavirus pandemic.
In an expired press release last month, Via Rail said the Canada route and the ocean, which connects Montreal to Halifax, would not resume on November 1 as planned.
According to Via Rail, the suspension of the “be docking class” in the Winnipeg-Churchill direction will be extended.
Both routes were first suspended in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Recent government announcements show that a pandemic wave has begun in some parts of the country,” he said.
“The government is implying that this scenario is scary as we enter autumn and winter, seasons of greatest threat of respiratory disease. “

Via Rail stated that existing health situations would not allow it to provide a service given “the duration of those trips and the closeness between workers and passengers”.
Cynthia Garneau, president and CEO of Via Rail, said the company “will continue to largely monitor COVID-19. “
She said Via Rail will be in “close contact” with the public fitness government and government officials.
“Our preference is to supply all of our facilities to Canadians as temporarily as possible in optimal hygienic conditions,” Garneau said.
The news comes at a time when fitness managers are reviewing it to avoid a wave of viruses.
On Monday, the country reported 2,206 new cases of respiratory diseases, marking the largest accumulation of one day since the onset of the pandemic.
Of those cases, 1,191 detected in Quebec.
According to the Via Rail communication, with a reservation affected by the suspension you will be contacted and refunded automatically.
