ESPOO, Finland, Jan. 30, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Valmet will deliver a complete line of tissues, adding a tissue production line and converting appliances to Suzano Papel e Celulose in Brazil. The order also includes a biomass boiler. This is Valmet’s first combined order with fabric production and converting lines following the acquisition of the fabric converting business at the end of 2023. Fabric control also includes a complete package of automation, control valves, and commercial web solutions from Valmet.

The tissue making line and biomass boiler orders are included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2023 and the tissue converting equipment order of the first quarter 2024. The value of the total order will not be disclosed, but such an order is typically worth around EUR 100 million.

The tissue production line, converter apparatus and biomass boiler will be installed at the Aracruz plant in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The objective of this investment is to meet the growing demand of Brazilian consumers for paper products with low environmental impact. It is planned for the first quarter of 2026.

“Valmet’s responses will allow us to expand our tissue product capacity with a new production line at the Aracruz plant. This satisfies our wishes in terms of business strategy, production capacity, profitability and sustainability capacity. Valmet’s proven technology, combined with the ability to supply 100 percent incorporated the line from weaving device to conversion, and the consistent effects on their responses were vital points in resolving those new investments and reinforce Suzano’s vision of long-term continuity of the partnership with Valmet. ” says Jean Moraes, Corporate Director of Engineering at Suzano.

“It is an honor to have been selected through Suzano for this strategic assignment in Brazil. This is Valmet’s first combined order for a weaving device and tissue converting equipment. Valmet’s combination of tissue production line, converting equipment, plant engineering, automation and performance systems guarantees maximum product quality and at the same time is the most effective production line on the current market,” says Rogerio Berardi, Director of the Paper Division for South America at Valmet.

“To meet the demands of visitors, it was decided to use Valmet’s fabric converting lines based on the fair effects achieved in other existing Suzano factories,” says Daniel Schroeder, sales director for Latin America tissue converting at Valmet. Valmet’s new bubbling fluidized bed (The BFB Boiler), which is expected to enter service in the last quarter of 2025, will use biomass to produce steam, which in turn is used in the pulp mill and in the production of electrical energy. The new biomass boiler will increase the energy output of the plant, contributing to operational stability. It will also generate significant environmental benefits by reducing electronic particle projects. “Valmet’s project is to turn renewable resources into sustainable outcomes, and the new Suzano Aracruz biomass boiler is a wonderful example of how our technologies and delivery capacity can advance our consumers in power and competitiveness,” says Fernando Scucuglia, director of pulp for South America. and power, Valmet.
