The number of coronavirus death increased to 924,000 with 28. 9 million infections
Clinical trials of one of the top-complex Covid-19 experimental vaccines resumed on Saturday after a brief interruption of protection, as the number of infections continued in countries around the world.
The world’s hopes of a pandemic respite were a severe blow last week when pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University announced that they had “voluntarily suspended” their vaccine trial after a British volunteer developed an unexplained disease.
But on Saturday, the trial allowed British regulators to resume after a protection review. The company also announced the resumption of clinical trials in Brazil next Monday after also receiving the green light.
The global number of coronavirus deaths increased to 924,000 with 28. 9 million infections, while France and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday recorded new grim milestones for infections.
And as billions of people continue to suffer the consequences of the pandemic, a global race for a vaccine is underway, with nine companies already in phase 3 of complex trials.
Even after the break, AstraZeneca said he hoped the vaccine would still be available “by the end of this year, early next year. “
Oxford University stated that “in giant trials like this, some participants are expected to become ill and that each case deserves to be thoroughly evaluated. “
Charlotte Summers, a professor of intensive care at the University of Cambridge, said the break showed researchers’ commitment to “putting protection at the center of their progression agenda. “

This public confidence will be in convincing an impatient audience for a vaccine, and in some skeptical corners.
Among the impatient is U. S. President Donald Trump, who has been accused through rival Joe Biden of “undermining public confidence” by raising the option of a vaccine being available before the November election.
The Republican president is under pressure as the death toll in the United States continues to rise, reaching 6. 7 million cases on Sunday with more than 198,000 deaths, the highest in both cases worldwide.
Biden also called Trump “reckless” for organizing a rally in the snowy city of Reno, even after the place had to be replaced because the occasion violated Covid-19’s local restrictions. Television photographs of Saturday’s rally showed an outdoor crowd with few masks.
Some of the potentially skeptical of a vaccine visited many German cities and the Polish capital, Warsaw, on Saturday to protest against measures against coronavirus and defy the regulations of masked dresses.
The motion is made up of other groups, from self-proclaimed “freetheners” to vaccine activists, conspiracy theorists and far-right activists.
France and the UAE
There are symptoms of a resurgence of the virus in many countries that have lifted many coronavirus measures after repelling the first wave of infections months ago.
France reported 10,000 new infections on Saturday, the highest daily number in the country since large-scale testing was launched.
The milestone came a day after Prime Minister Jean Castex refused to announce new primary restrictions despite the “sharp worsening” of the epidemic in the country.
Another country that took a daily step on Saturday was the United Arab Emirates, which first recorded more than 1,000 new cases of coronavirus.
In Spain, which this week has become the first EU country to broadcast part of a million contagions, a case was detected among Princess Leonor’s colleagues.
The 14-year-old heir to the throne of Spain – who returned to school on Wednesday in Madrid – will now have to practice a two-week quarantine.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s uncle, businessman Mohamad Makhlouf, died of Covid-19 on Saturday, two sources close to the city told the AFP.
And in Latin America, which reached the 8 million-million-case mark this week, Brazil’s top hit recorded more than 131,000 Covid-19 deaths on Saturday, the highest time in america’s global world.
Latvia, for its part, has restored a mandatory 14-day quarantine for arrivals from neighbouring Estonia due to an increase in cases there.
