About a million cases have been recorded in states in the past 10 days, representing the highest infection rate since the start of the epidemic, according to reports.

Daily infections crowned 100,000 five times in more than seven days, 131,420 on Saturday, according to Reuters.

The task force will be led by Vivek Murthy, a former US surgeon general, and David Kessler, a former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration.
