USA. U. S. to End COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements for Foreign and Federal Travelers on May 11
International air travelers will soon no longer be required to provide evidence of covid vaccination upon arrival in the United States, according to the White House.
The United States will meet the requirement on May 11, coinciding with the end of the country’s coronavirus public health emergency.
Vaccine regulations will also be lifted for federal workers and contractors.
The United States has one of the few remaining pandemic restrictions in place.
The lifting restriction will also apply to non-U. S. travelers entering land access ports and ferries.
On Monday, the White House said “we are now in another phase of our reaction when those measures are no longer necessary. “
The update will allow Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, 35, to play at the US Open this year.
Because the 22-time Grand Slam winner is unvaccinated, he was forced to miss last year’s tournament.
He faced similar problems in 2022 with the Australian Open and was expelled for his vaccination prestige before he had a chance to protect his title.
Rep. Brian Higgins, who represents Buffalo and Niagara Falls in upstate New York, said it’s good news for Canadians crossing into the U. S. U. S.
“Although long overdue, this latest lifting of pandemic restrictions is smart and vitally important news as we look for opportunities to inspire a physically powerful cross-border industry that delivers shared prosperity,” Mr. Higgins said in a statement.
Last month, President Joe Biden signed a bill ending the Covid-19 national emergency, allowing the U. S. to end the national emergency of Covid-19. The U. S. government is expected to implement sweeping measures in welfare and welfare systems to combat the country’s reaction to the virus.
Canada finalized its COVID-19 vaccine for foreign air travelers in October.
