US ‘did not participate’ in drone attack on Iranian military (report)

JERUSALEM

The United States has denied any involvement in a midnight drone attack on an army facility in Iran, according to an Israeli media report.

Iran’s Defense Ministry said several drones struck an army compound in central Isfahan on Saturday night, but there were no casualties or primary damage.

“Washington did not participate in the Isfahan attack,” Israeli public broadcaster KAN quoted an unnamed U. S. official as saying.

There have been a series of sabotage attacks on army installations and nuclear power plants in Iran in recent years, with Tehran basically blaming its regional rival Israel.

The Israeli government has yet to comment on the latest attack.

On Sunday, Iran’s Defense Ministry said the Isfahan complex’s air defense systems intercepted one of the drones, two others were caught in defensive traps and exploded.

“The attack did not affect our apparatus or our mission,” the ministry said.
