Recently, four new wetland sites were added to the Ramsar wetland list through the convention. These are in Haryana and Gujarat in India. The two in Haryana are the Bhindawas Wildlife Sanctuary and the Sultanpur National Park. The other two are from Gujarat, namely Thol Lake Wildlife Sanctuary and Wadhvana Wetland.

In January 2020, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of the Government of India announced the addition of 10 more wetlands in the country to the list of Ramsar sites.
With this addition, the Indian state of Maharashtra received its first Ramsar site, Punjab received 3 more Ramsar sites and Uttar Pradesh received 6 more Ramsar sites.
In October 2020, two more Indian wetlands, the Kabartal Wetland (Bihar) and the Asan Conservation Reserve (Uttarakhand), were added to the Ramsar sites.
In November 2020, the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, announced the addition of two more wetlands in India to the list of Ramsar sites. With this announcement, Lake Lonar in Maharashtra and Sur Sarovar, known as Lake Keetham, in Agra have been added to the list.

What is a Ramsar site?
Any wetland that is indexed through the Ramsar Convention and aims to maintain and promote the sustainable use of its herbal resources is called a RamsarArray.
On February 2, 1971, the International Treaty for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Wetlands was signed in an Iranian town called Ramsar, hence the so-called Ramsar Sites. You know?1- There are 42 Ramsars in India with a domain of 1,081,438 hectares (as of December 2020). 2- Chilika Lake is the largest Ramsar in India with a domain of 1,16,500 hectares. 3- Lake Chilika (Orissa) and Keoladeo National Park (Rajasthan) have been identified as the first Ramsars in India. 4- Uttar Pradesh has the largest number of Ramsars in India with 8 Indian wetlands. The Renuka Wetland in Himachal Pradesh is the smallest wetland in India with a domain of 20 hectares. Interesting facts about Ramsar:
1- Ramsar sites are one of the largest spaces in the world.
2- There are 2,414 Ramsar sites in the world, covering an area of 254,543,971,597 hectares.
3- In 1974, the first Ramsar site in the world was discovered (Cobourg Peninsula; Australia).
4- With 175 Ramsar sites, the United Kingdom has the largest number of sites of this type in the world.
5- International Wetlands Day is celebrated on February 2.
6- These sites are retained in the Montreux Register to track any primary ecological adjustments that may definitively or negatively affect any of the wetland sites. Wetlands According to the Ramsar Convention, wetlands are spaces of marshes, peat bogs or water, whether vegetal or artificial, permanent. or temporary, with static or flowing water, fresh, brackish or salty, adding spaces of sea water with an intensity not exceeding six meters at low tide. For example, marine and coastal spaces; estuaries; Lakes and rivers; Marshes and peat bogs; Groundwater and artificial wetlands such as rice fields, shrimp ponds and reservoirs.
