Update on the SARS Traveller Reporting System

READ: Saffas will soon want a pass before leaving or entering South Africa

SARS announced on August 12 that it would roll in place this new online system. The written apology came from Mark Kingon, SARS’s head of dating integrity and anti-corruption.

In the letter to the Southern African Tourism Services Association (SATSA), Kingon wrote: “I would like to sincerely acknowledge the confusion caused by last week’s publication on the SARS online page and the resulting media reports and questions, namely its members. “

There is still no clarity on what this reporting formula will entail, however, SATSA Executive Director David Frost revealed that SARS had written to him: “[It will] allow travellers entering or leaving South Africa to register on a traveller profile, pre-declare goods purchased, livestocked or otherwise acquired, and pay all applicable fees and taxes through the online internet platform. ” Tourism Update reported.

“The implementation of the digitized traveler screening formula is one of the main pillars for compliance and inspires travelers to move towards the strategic attempt of voluntary SARS compliance. The formula will be safe, secure and serve as an effective tool for keeping track of travelers. “information,” the SARS letter reads.

SARS will make further announcements, the IOL reported, which could clarify the statement.

“The travel pass is a unique component of a whole-of-government reaction to the integrity of our monetary flows and our ability to stumble upon illicit flows and enforce our laws and regulations,” said SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter.
