The International Energy Agency team (OIEA) founded on the Zaporizhzhzhhhya of Ukraine (ZNPP) nuclear Army, General Director Rafael Grossi. He said today.
The team reported hearing several instances of such Army activities in recent days, at other distances from the ZNPP. No pain has been reported to the plant itself. Although the sound of nearby action by the military has been a not unusual phenomenon since the IAEA established a non-stop presence at ZNPP in September 2022, it happened almost in recent weeks.
“For almost three years now, we have been doing everything we can to help prevent a nuclear accident at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant and elsewhere in Ukraine. An accident has not occurred, but the situation is not improving. It is still precarious. I remain seriously concerned about nuclear safety and security in Ukraine, including at the Zaporizhzhya site. Our work is far from over,” Director General Grossi said.
As a component of the ongoing paintings to monitor the advances applicable to nuclear protection and safety, the OIEA team continued to perform walks on the site, and it is not limited and discussed the maintenance activities related to security with the plant.
The OIEA team also reported that the ZNPP is buying 3 new cell dorsel turbines, similar to those won before last year. They are added to the 20 site desktop diesel turbines that are designed to supply strength on the site on the occasion of a general loss of force outside the site.
On the other hand, the ZNPP said that 4 diesel steam turbines were put into operation for ten days to supply the steam to process liquid radioactive waste. These turbines were commissioned a year ago.
Elsewhere in Ukraine, airstrike alarms have been heard several times at the 3 nuclear power plants (NPPs) in Ukraine, Khmelnytskyy, Rivne, and southern Ukraine, as well as at the Chornobyl site. At the Khmelnytskyy Nuclear Power Plant, AIAA team members have organized their 3 times in the past few days because of those alerts.
In Khmelnytskyy and in southern Ukraine NPPs and on the site of Chornobyl, the OIEA were informed of the cases of drones detected at distances ranging from 2 to 30 km of the sites.
Despite such military activities, Ukraine’s nine operating nuclear power reactors have been operating at full capacity this week, safely generating much-needed electricity during the cold winter months.
In addition, the company continued with deliveries as a component of its comprehensive nuclear safety program and security assistance to Ukraine. The armed conflict was supported through the United Kingdom Budget.
