ROME, 14 May (Reuters) – Italy will quarantine visitors from the European Union, the United Kingdom and Israel on Sunday, whose COVID-19 tests are negative, the government said Friday as it seeks to encourage summer tourism.

With the acceleration of vaccine deployment in the EU, more and more countries are seeking to ease restrictions and restrictions on the hotel sector to help it recover from the pandemic.

“We have been waiting for this movement for a long time and it provides a pass for the whole of Europe,” said Tourism Minister Massimo Garavaglia.

The EU plans to launch a unified formula for recording COVID-19 vaccines, testing and recovery from June to allow for more movement.

People entering Italy from these countries have been asked to quarantine for five days and to carry out tests before their arrival and at the end of their isolation period.

Quarantine for countries, adding the United States, is longer.

Restrictions on access for others in Brazil will remain in place, the ministry of fitness said.

The government has also extended so-called COVID flights to destinations in Canada, Japan and the United Arab Emirates. There will be no quarantine for those who mark negative upon arrival on those routes, as well as on some flights to Rome, Milan. Naples and Venice.

Although they must provide a negative swab before travelling, passengers on those flights will be examined upon arrival and, if they are negative, will be without quarantine.

Travel between Italy and much of the rest of the world has been severely limited for months, as the government sought to involve the resurgence of coronavirus infections.

However, cases have declined in recent weeks due, in part, to an increasingly effective vaccination campaign.

The National Institute of Health (ISS) said Friday that the number of “R” reproductions had fallen to 0. 86 from 0. 89 a week earlier. An “R” above 1 indicates that infections will grow exponentially.

Italy recorded nearly 124,000 coronavirus deaths, the current number in Europe after Britain. As of Monday, 19 of Italy’s 20 regions will be designated as “low infection” and only one as “medium risk”.

Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s government must also talk about making it more flexible or abolishing 22:00 hours across the Italian country on Monday. (Report through Maria Pia Quaglia and Angelo Amante, edited through Giulia Segreti and Gabriela Baczynska)
