DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates recorded more than 500 coVID-19 infections on Monday, the highest number in a 24-hour era in nearly two months.
The Arab Gulf state recorded 541 infections and two deaths, the government tweeted in communications, the highest since 683 cases were recorded on July 5.
Health Minister AbdulRahman Bin Mohammed al-Owais said on 18 August that infections could occur just after an “alarming” build-up in the past two weeks.[NL8N2FK4OD]
A government official later warned that a de facto curfew at night could be restored in some spaces if there were a large number of infections.[NL8N2FN0XH]
Companies and public offerings have reopened since the lifting of curfews across the country since mid-March on 24 June.The tourist capital, Dubai, reopened to foreign visitors in early July.
The UAE recorded 70,231 infections and 384 deaths. The government reveals where infections or deaths occurred in the country of seven emirates or states.
