UN leader urges Yemen’s warring parties to truce

One less is fine.

UN leader urges Yemen’s warring parties to truce:

As usual, the UN hesitated to call for an end to Yemen’s civil war, angered by relentless U. S. -led Saudi airstrikes opposing the weak Houthis.

Why blame the Houthis for renewing a 6-month truce?

As usual, the UN hesitated to call for an end to Yemen’s civil war, angered by relentless U. S. -led Saudi airstrikes opposing the weak Houthis.

Why blame the Houthis for renewing a 6-month truce?

For clarity, it was the Houthis who tore up a deal that unified Yemen after a 30-year intermittent war between northern and southern Yemen. This war began through the Shiite Zaydi who make up the Houthi movement. In fact, if you examine the history of the Shia Zaidis, they have been at war for most of their existence. But the immediate cause of the existing war is that the Houthis have attacked Yemen’s UN-backed unified government, attempting to separate the north after the UN resolved the 30-year war that has unified Yemen. The Saudis and the United Arab Emirates intervened when Iranian rockets and missiles hit the battlefield. His intervention was aimed at preventing Iran from turning the Houthis into the equivalent of Hezbollah. The IRGC and Hezbollah had advisers among the Houthi troops. The United States has supported the Saudis and the United Arab Emirates, also fearing that Iran will turn Yemen into another Shiite client, even though most Yemenis are Sunni and hate Iran.

How about a value limit on our weapons?

The Houthis will have a harder time obtaining Iranian weapons because they will be diverted to Russia. It is in their interest to settle for peace.
