Ukraine becoming ‘test site’ for North Korean missiles, South Korea warns

Ukraine has a “test site” for North Korean missiles and the rogue state’s nuclear ambitions, South Korea warned yesterday.

The United States and its allies this week condemned what they described as North Korea’s firing of rockets into Ukraine.

Russia’s use of North Korean rockets in Seoul had given Pyongyang “valuable technical and military information” about its weaponry.

South Korean envoy Hwang Joon-kook said through exporting missiles to Russia, North Korea “uses Ukraine as the test site of its nuclear-capable missiles”.

He added that experts assessed them as KN-23s, which Pyongyang said are capable of carrying nuclear warheads. One of them is said to have traveled 460 kilometers, the distance between a North Korean launch and the city of Pusan, which, from the South, in its view, “amounts to a simulated attack. “

Deputy U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood and his allies said the use of missiles violated U. N. resolutions.

He called it “abhorrent” for a permanent member of the U. N. Security Council to “violate” resolutions to attack a member state.

The U. S. and seven countries have accused Russia of exploiting its position as a permanent member of the council with veto power to obtain and fire missiles toward Ukraine.

The fact that Russia holds a veto on the Council, alongside Britain, China, France and the US, effectively guarantees the body cannot punish Moscow.
