CORONAVIRUS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
“Right now, the epidemic is doubling every seven days,” UK government lead clinical adviser Sir Patrick Vallance told a briefing in Downing Street on Monday.
He added: “If it continues incessantly and increases, it doubles every seven days Array . . . If this continues, you’ll end up with something like 50,000 instances in mid-October per day. The challenge, therefore, is to make sure that the duplication time does not stay in seven days. “
England’s leading medical officer, Chris Whitty, said citizens will have to unite to stop the spread.
“We see this as a six-month challenge that we have to face together,” he said. “It is not indefinite and Array . . . science will come to our rescue in due course. But in this era of the next six months, I think we want to realize that we have to take this together very seriously. “

Those who violate self-disaltachment orders in the UK face heavy fines as the country sees a sharp increase in coronavirus infections.
The British government announced Sunday that it will introduce fines of up to 10,000 pounds, or $13,000, for those rejecting an isolation order, which will take effect on 28 September. British Health Secretary Matt Hancock told the BBC that the country faces a “turning point” amid a wave of infections.
“If everyone follows the rules, we can set a new national blockade,” Hancock said Sunday.
The new rule requires others to isolate themselves if they test positive for coronavirus or are known as close contact.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Friday that the UK “witnesses a momentary wave” of coronavirus infections, as it says it needs to keep schools and the economy open as much as possible.
“Obviously, we are very concerned about the spread of the pandemic, as it has evolved in recent days, and there is no doubt, as I said for several weeks, that we can wait, and we see now, a moment comes the wave,” he says.
