The UNITED Kingdom has agreed at a Scottish plant that it will manufacture the Covid-19 vaccine from French biotechnology Valneva SE, with the aim of ensuring domestic production of the vaccine.
The British government and Valneva will invest 14 million pounds ($18 million) in the existing plant, according to a user familiar with the scenario that asked not to be known because the price has not been publicly disclosed.
The agreement, announced Wednesday, comes two weeks after the UK received 60 million doses of the French company’s possible vaccine, and another 40 million if the product is safe and effective.
Britain has reached agreements for at least 250 million doses with 4 other vaccines developed in accordance with the last few weeks, giving the country one of the world’s capita-consistent Covid-19 vaccine dose figures. The injection of Valneva, which uses the production generation developed for its jab opposed to Japanese encephalitis, will provide clinical studies until the end of the year. The company also plans to increase its investments at its production plant in Solna, Sweden.
More than a hundred other people are hired at the Livingston site, with 75 other jobs when production begins. UK Trade Secretary Alok Sharma will stop at the plant on Wednesday.
