UK imposes 14-day arrivals from France

LONDON (Reuters) – The UK will impose around 40 14 days on Saturday on all arrivals from France, COVID-19 infection rates are too high, Transport Minister Grant Shapps said Thursday.

The government, with a momentary wave of the new coronavirus, has also added the Netherlands, Malta and 3 other countries to its quarantine list. Spain and Belgium have already joined in recent weeks.

“Knowledge shows that we want to remove France, the Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Aruba from our list of brokers #coronavirus to keep BAS infection rates,” Shapps said on Twitter.

“If you arrive in the UK after 04:00 on Saturday from those destinations, you will want to isolate yourself for 14 days.”

The French Foreign Ministry did not respond.

France reported more than 2500 new COVID-19 infections for the time-in-a-row on Thursday, the last time observed in mid-April, when the country was in the midst of one of Europe’s strictest blockades.

Re-re-repositioning of quarantine situations hits Britain’s favourite holiday destinations in mid-summer and as the industry struggles to survive.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he would be ruthless in applying new restrictions to arrivals due to the danger of loading new instances of viruses.

This technique contrasts with the start of this year, when the government criticized for being too slow to block the start of the pandemic, when it is said that many cases of tourists returning from Italy have arrived. The UK’s quarantine policy began in June.

For British tourists, France is the most visited country of the moment after Spain. France is the largest market at the moment for tourists arriving in the UK, USA.
