This is the first competitive clash between Romania and Ukraine, and of the last six they were played in a friendly. Romania won the first three between 2001 and 2003, while Ukraine remained unbeaten in the last three (2 wins, 1 draw between 2010 and 2003). and 2016).
Ukraine are playing for their fourth consecutive UEFA European Championship. They have lost 8 of their last 11 matches in the festival (3 wins), the defeat rate of any country that has played more than one edition (73%).

Edward Iordănescu will coach Romania in a primary tournament for the first time.
