Emirates Global Aluminium, the UAE’s largest trading corporation outside of oil and gas, has announced the formation of the Aluminium Recycling Coalition, which aims to promote aluminium recycling in the UAE.
The members of the coalition are EGA, Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer), Aujan Coca-Cola Beverages Company, Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Company, BEEAH Tandeef, Pepsi-bottler Dubai Refreshment, Canpack, Crown Bevcan EMEA, Dulsco Group and Veolia.
In addition to its many uses, aluminum has the merit of being infinitely recyclable, making it ideal for everything from packaging to light electric vehicles. About three-quarters of the aluminum that was made is still used today, making it the ultimate recycled. in the world.
The Aluminium Recycling Coalition aims to promote aluminium recycling through consumers in the UAE. The organization intends to fund a study through the International Aluminium Institute that will look at aluminum recycling rates and behaviors in the UAE to fully master the scope of the opportunity and the future. Similar studies are being conducted through the International Aluminium Institute, which represents the global aluminium sector.
The coalition also plans to provide the government with aluminum recycling regulations and policies in order to work together to encourage the progress of an environmentally friendly aluminum recycling infrastructure.
Aluminum is one of the industries responsible for more than 80% of the emissions of the fabric production industry. The recycled aluminum plants will supply sustainable aluminum to the automotive, beverage, packaging, appliance and other industries.
Aluminium contributes to decarbonising the global economy. At a cost of up to $1 trillion, steel can mobilize blank energy and power and recycling materials, reducing carbon emissions by 95%. In a business as usual, the industry will emit a total of 37 gigatons of carbon through 2050, more than double the Paris-aligned carbon budget of 15 gigatons.
