PARIS – The United Arab Emirates has a vaccine opposed to Chinese coronavirus for emergency use for its frontline fitness workers, its main crisis authority said Monday.
“The vaccine will be available to our first line of defense heroes who are at the highest threat of contracting the virus,” the UAE National Crisis and Disaster Management Authority said in a tweet.
According to NCEMA, 31,000 volunteers have already participated in clinical trials of the vaccine, adding 1,000 volunteers with chronic diseases. Phase 3 trials of the vaccine are underway, but the firm said no side effects have been detected so far.
Phase 3 trials, which began in July in the Gulf country of 10 million more people, involve the Covid-19 vaccine developed through Chinese state pharmaceutical company Sinopham.
