UAE and Oman sign several agreements in the education, clinical research, agriculture and railway sectors

Muscat: The United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman signed a series of Memoranda of Cooperation (MoC) on the sidelines of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Oman.

The protocols cover various spaces that strengthen relations between the two countries, adding cooperation in the fields of culture and media, railways, education, clinical research, agricultural wealth and money markets.

The agreements included a Memorandum of Understanding between Oman’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technologies and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion related to cooperation and investment in trade fields, signed through Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman.

With regard to the promotion of links in the youth and culture sectors, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministries of Culture and Youth, signed through Suhail Al Mazrouei and Salim Al Aufi.

The two sides also signed a memorandum between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman, signed through Al Mazrouei and Al Aufi.

In the school sector, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Oman. It was signed through Suhail Al Mazrouei and Salim Al Aufi.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed, through Al Mazrouei and Al Aufi, between the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman.

To promote cooperation in the fields of shipping and logistics, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman. The MoU was signed through Al Mazrouei and Al Aufi.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed in the maritime transport framework, through Al Mazrouei and Al Aufi, between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman.

Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Railway, and Abdulrahman Salim Al Hatmi, CEO of ASYAD Group, signed a cooperation on a railway assignment linking the two countries.

Another memorandum of understanding signed between the Financial Intelligence Unit of the United Arab Emirates and the National Financial Information Information Centre of Oman on the exchange of data on money laundering and similar predicate offences and terrorist financing. Signed by Ali Faisal Ba’ Alawi, head of the monetary intelligence unit, and Lieutenant Colonel Abdulrahman Amer Al Kiyumi, director general of the National Financial Intelligence Center.

The agreements also included a Memorandum of Understanding between the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and the Ministry of Information of the Sultanate of Oman represented through the Oman News Agency (ONA) in the news and data exchange box. The MoU signed through Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director General of WAM, and Ibrahim Al-Azri, Director General and Editor-in-Chief of ONA.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed between ADQ, an Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, and the ITHCA Group of Oman (known as the Oman Information and Communication Technology Group). The MoU was signed through Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Managing Director and CEO of ADQ, and Atif. bin Said Al Siyabi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, ITHCA Group.

With regard to cooperation in money markets, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange (ADX) and the Muscat Stock Exchange. It was signed through Saeed Hamad Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADX, and Haitham Salim Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat. In addition, some other agreement for distance trading of brokerage corporations signed through Al Dhaheri and Al Salmi.

They also signed a partnership agreement between ADX and Muscat Stock Exchange at the securities directory box, signed through Al Dhaheri and Al Salmi.
