UAE and Bahrain rest on ‘great hope’, says Abdullah bin Zayed

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said relations between the UAE and Bahrain are long-standing and have wonderful hopes and promising opportunities.

The UAE’s senior diplomat made the remarks while co-chairing with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the tenth consultation of the UAE-Bahrain Joint High Committee, which met today.

Addressing the committee, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his joy at being in Bahrain and meeting with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, welcoming the directives of the King of Bahrain and his determination for additional bilateral relations between the two countries.

“While expanding our non-oil industry volume in 2021 to $6. 5 billion is a feat, it does not reflect our true potential, as there are still a wealth of opportunities [to expand it further]. The aspirations of our leaders, carried through His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, urge us to take extra precautions and redouble our efforts to achieve such ambitions,” said the UAE Foreign Minister.

He highlighted the attention that their governments and private sectors are paying to strengthening cooperation, which gives them greater opportunities, incentives and communication channels, in addition to facilitating their joint ventures and getting out of the demanding situations they face.

“We look forward to finding the concepts that the UAE and Bahraini business communities have in the opportunities available, driving the long-term of our relationships, exploring promising sectors such as technology, banking, clean and renewable energy, healthcare and others. Sheikh Abdullah said.

He stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation between the government and the private sectors, as well as between the private sectors of the UAE and Bahrain.

The UAE Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm hospitality shown through Dr. Al Zayani and for the special attention he paid to Dr. Al Zayani and his joint higher committee.

He also commended the manner in which His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, attach great importance to the Committee, noting that King Hamad’s most recent arrival in the UAE, which saw the signing of several agreements between their countries, has contributed to the significant progression of relations between the UAE and Bahrain.

For his part, Dr. Abdulatif bin Rashid Al Zayani highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the UAE and Bahrain, which were established through the founding fathers of both countries, adding that they wish to expand them further with that of their leaders.

“Prominent relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain were established through the founding leaders, and we are ready to continue the march under the care of the leaders of both countries,” he added.

“Relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain are a style that should be copied for cohesion, complementarity and interdependence between the leaders of the two countries and their peoples. They are based on mutual respect, unity of purpose and destiny.

“We are proud of the UAE’s sensible foreign policy technique and tangible efforts to announce peace and stability in the region and the world, encourage cooperation among GCC states, maintain Gulf integrity and joint Arab action.

He pressed for the Emirates’ efforts in this regard to be aligned with the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, as the percentage targets of the two countries and aspirations are not unusual. in achievements by hosting the main world event. He expressed confidence in the UAE to achieve the same good fortune by hosting the 28th assembly of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) in 2023.

The minister said he was proud of the contributions of the UAE-Bahrain Joint Higher Committee since its establishment and said it has done a lot for cooperation with the help and care of the leaders of the two countries.

The consultation was attended by Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bahrain, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. and International Cooperation, and several officials from both sides.
