CONNECTICUT – Senator Richard Blumenthal tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from a trip to Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, I tested positive for COVID,” Blumenthal tweeted today. So this week I’ll be running remotely. I have no symptoms and am grateful to be fully vaccinated and reinforced. If you haven’t won your vaccine or booster yet, make an appointment today!”
Blumenthal and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) traveled to Ukraine last week to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian officials. The two senators presented Zelenskky with a copy of a solution they presented to the Senate to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
The two senators said in a statement that they are helping the International Criminal Court and the Ukrainian judicial formula prosecute war crimes committed by the Russian military.
They also visited the Kyiv suburb of Bucha, where many civilians were killed by Russian attacks.
