WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. State Department And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) raised global warnings Thursday advising U.S. citizens to avoid foreigners because of the coronavirus pandemic, and instead issued a series of high-level warnings to individual countries.
“With situations of aptitude and protection improving in some countries and potentially deteriorating in others, the branch is returning to its old country-specific travel recommendation level formula,” the State Department said in an uprising of its “Do Not Travel” notice.
The CDC has also abandoned its global view of not allowing non-essential aliens to be renounced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, almost all countries remain at their highest Level 3 warning level to avoid anything that is not essential.
Some countries, Thailand, New Zealand and Fiji, have received a low-risk Level 1 warning.
U.S. stocks came up with the announcement.
The State Department has issued country-specific updated alerts, adding “Level Four: Do Not Travel” notices for approximately 30 countries, adding India, Russia, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Haiti, Iran, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Honduras and Libya.
The State Department has also issued new “Level 3: Reconsidering Travel” notices, adding for members of the European Union, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Armenia, Philippines, Laos and Australia.
The United States has banned up from non-U.S. citizens from many parts of the world from traveling to the US, adding the EU and China. China has been the subject of the State Department’s “Do Not Travel” campaign since June.
The State Department issued the World-Class Physical Fitness Notice “Do Not Travel” for the first time on March 19, while the CDC imposed its “Level 3” on March 27.
The US is still in talks with the EU to allow maximum Americans to resume their travels in Europe.
