The coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc in the United States, where more than 200,000 Americans have lost their lives to Covid-19, lives that would otherwise have lasted in peak cases for many years, according to a review by the University of South Florida estimates that Americans lost 2 million “years of life” as a result of the pandemic.
The study, which was previously published earlier this month in the Journal of Public Health, found that the average American who died of Covid-19 would have lived about 10 more years without the pandemic.
The knowledge looked at deaths as of July 11, when there were about 130,000 deaths in the United States, life expectancy based on sex and age from the Social Security Administration, and demographic information from the census bureau.
Assuming those trends continue, Americans have now lost more than 2 million “life years. “
The study Dr. Troy Quast said the lost life years used a conservative estimate, and told the Tampa Bay Times that researchers had reduced life expectancy by 25% to take into account pre-existing situations and other threat points in coronavirus victims.
Another study published in June in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that the number of years of life lost in the United States is particularly higher than in other countries, five times that of Italy.
“This shows that it wasn’t like they were just people at the end of their lives,” Quast told the Tampa Bay Times about the results.
204,861. This is the number of Americans who lost their lives to the coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University. By Monday afternoon, the world was close to achieving 1 million deaths from the pandemic.
The United States has been far more affected by coronavirus than any other country, and many argue that increased deaths in recent months may have been prevented. The vast majority of deaths during the spring months occurred in the Northeast, after the virus spread. dense urban spaces like New York, when restrictions were not in place. Much of the US and its allies in the Middle East have been able to do so. The U. S. would factor orders to remain in the house during the spring increase, however, states, basically in the south and west, quickly lifted restrictions during the summer months, despite warnings from fitness officials, which led to an additional increase in coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths during the summer , basically in states that had reopened at a much faster rate than that recommended by fitness experts.
Another study, published this month in the journal PLOS One, found that life expectancy in general can be minimized as a result of the pandemic, most likely up to nine years if the virus reaches a very high prevalence rate in countries that already have higher life expectancies, such as those in Europe and North America.
