Multiple one-way attack drones were launched against Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq, on Thursday, a US official said. There were no casualties or infrastructure damage reported.
There have been at least 98 attacks against US and coalition forces since they began on October 17. The attack occurred while Gen. Erik Kurilla, commander of the U. S. Central Command, was visiting Iraq and Syria on Wednesday and Thursday. According to a CENTCOM article on X, the former Twitter site, Kurilla met with the Iraqi prime minister and other officials, as well as the US embassy team.
“The leaders discussed current regional and local security concerns with a particular emphasis on the attacks against US forces,” the CENTCOM post said. Kurilla then travelled to Baghdad, Al-Asad Airbase and Erbil Airfield.
In Syria, Kurilla met with “key partners” at various bases to discuss the ongoing defeat-ISIS mission.
“These tours provide valuable data that can’t be obtained without traveling to the domain and seeing it firsthand,” Kurilla said in the CENTCOM post. “I left with a wonderful sense of pride in the professionalism, determination and ability of our men and women. in uniform deployed at risk. “
According to the U. S. official, there have been 46 strikes against forces in Iraq and against forces in Syria since Oct. 17. There were three strikes against U. S. forces “as long as Zionist crimes continue in Gaza and the American profession continues in Iraq. “
Pentagon officials have maintained the weeks of attacks that the U. S. has managed to prevent the standoff between Israel and Hamas in Gaza from spreading to the region.
“Our goal is to prevent the crisis in Israel, as far as the confrontation between Israel and Hamas is concerned, from spreading to a wider region,” Pentagon spokesman Brig. Davis said. Last week, Gen. Pat Ryder said, “So we feel this has been contained. “
