President Trump signed measures to ease the pandemic as stimulus talks stalled. And Brazil has reached two milestones in coronavirus: more than 100,000 deaths and more than 3 million cases.
This report is over. Read the coronavirus updates here.
As politicians struggled for a pandemic aid package and schools struggled over whether to open its doors to students, the United States took a step Saturday—more than five million known coronavirus infections.
No country has reported so many cases. Brazil now occupies more than 3 million and India is third with two million. (According to the capita basis, the United States ranks eighth, between Oman and Peru).
The data, from a New York Times database, is based on known case reports from federal, state, and local officials. Public fitness experts have warned that the actual number of people inflamed is much higher.
Cases tend to accumulate in seven states, as well as in Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and are minimized by 17, according to the Times database. Last week, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida recorded the highest number of new instances relative to the population.
The United States reported its millionth case on April 28, more than 3 months after the first reported case. The country reported two million cases on June 10, 3 million on July 7 and 4 million on July 23.
The United States now tests about 720,000 more people a day, according to the knowledge of the Covid Tracking Project.
The number of new cases of day-compatible coronavirus peaked July 16, with 75697. Since then, it has declined to an average of approximately seven days of approximately 54,000 consistent with the day.
At least 161,000 more people have died since the start of the pandemic. The daily average of deaths over seven days is around 1,000. That’s less than a one-day spike of more than 2200 in mid-April, when major cities like New York and Seattle were the hardest hit. (The deadliest day on April 15, with 2752.)
But the daily average of deaths over seven days is now more consistent with that of early July, when it was 500. Cases have since increased, i.e. in the sun belt states and in communities where the government has temporarily reopened. Most put with the highest capita instances are small towns and rural communities in the south and midwest.

“I license payroll taxes to Americans who earn less than $100,000 a year. In a few moments, I will sign a directive directing the Treasury Decomposer to be consistent with the obligation of employers to defer payment of the workers’ component of insurance payroll taxes. Second, I point to a decree headed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, HHS and CDC, to ensure that tenants and landlords can stay at home. I am taking steps to offer an additional supplement or $400 depending on the week on extended benefits. Earlier this year, we cut student loan interest rates to 0% and suspended student loan payments, and Congress extended that policy to September 30. Today, I’m finishing this policy until the end of the year and I’ll probably finish it beyond that.” Mr President, however, this is expected to be blocked in court, so this aid will be delayed or blocked – “Oh, I don’t think – I think it will happen to the courts very quickly. It’s going to be great” – if we’re prosecuted. Maybe we won’t be prosecuted. If we’re prosecuted, it’s someone who doesn’t need other people to get cash. I agree? And it will be a very popular thing. “[crosstalk]”. … in trying to circumvent Congress, are you looking to create a new precedent in which the president can evade Congress and how much …? “Have you heard the word obstruction yet?” Obstructed. Congress has filed an obstruction. Democrats prevented others from getting the cash they don’t know what they needed. Come on in, please. Here. “[Crosstalk]”No, no, that’s it. Come on in, please. [crosstalk] [applause] “You said you were successful at Veterans Choice. It was followed in 2014 – “Okay, excuse me, please come in.” But it was a false statement, sir. “All right, thank you all very much. Thank you very much.” [applause]
President Trump took executive steps Saturday to evade Congress and seek to expand a diversity of federal aid in the course of a pandemic, employing a set of legally dubious edicts whose effect was unclear, as negotiations on an economic recovery plan gave the impression of being on the brink of collapse.
It was unclear what authority Trump had to act on the measures on his own or what immediate effect, if any, they would have, given that Congress controls federal spending. But his resolve to point out the measures, heralded as a federal ban on deportation, a suspension of payroll taxes, and relief for borrowing and unemployed students, reflected the failure of two weeks of talks between White House officials and key Democrats in Congress to reach an agreement. comprehensive aid plan because the benefits expired without an eye-view solution.
The Trump resolution also illustrated the greatest fear that a president will resolve his re-election amid a historic recession and pandemic, and we decided to show the electorate that he was doing anything to resolve crises. But despite Trump’s claims Saturday that his movements will “resolve this total situation,” the orders also leave unanswered a series of critical bipartisan investment proposals, which add to offer assistance to small businesses, billions of dollars to schools before the new school year. , helps states and cities, and the time circular of stimulus checks for $1,200 for Americans.
“Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer decided to take this important help hostage,” Trump said, saving the two most sensible Democrats at a news convention at their personal New Jersey golf club, their time in two days. A few dozen of the club’s visitors were present, and the president reveled in his laughter at his jokes denouncing his political rivals.
